This session will review current outbreaks and hot topics related to infection prevention and control issues in the perioperative environment. The session will also review the new CDC Core Elements of Antibiotic Stewardship and regulatory updates.

Dr. Hudson Garrett is currently employed as the Global Chief Clinical Officer for Pentax Medical and is the President and Co-Founder of the Infection Prevention Institute. He holds a Post-Master’s Certificate as a Family Nurse Practitioner, a Post-Masters Certificate in infection prevention and infection control, and a PhD in health care administration and policy. He has completed the Johns Hopkins Fellows Program in Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control, and the CDC Fundamentals of Healthcare Epidemiology and Antibiotic Stewardship program. He is board certified in family practice, critical care, vascular access, moderate sedation, infection prevention, legal nurse consulting, and as a director of nursing in long term care.
