What would Florence Do? Addressing a Culture of Ownership

“The Florence Prescription,” written by Joe Tye and Dick Schwabb, discusses how Florence Nightingale would handle today’s health care crisis related to low staff morale and lack of accountability. What would Florence do to foster a culture of ownership? We will focus on the eight essential characteristics for ownership, personal success and happiness. You will this leave class with a prescription for growing ownership in your organization and improving behaviors with the Great Pickle Challenge.
Dawn received her Associates Degree in Nursing in 1987 and has recently completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing Education. Dawn Whiteside is a perioperative nurse with 28 years of experience. She has been employed as an educator and manager for much of her career and has extensive experience presenting educational forums for staff. Ms. Whiteside has been a facilitator and administrator for the AORN Periop 101 Program. She is accomplished in instructing to a multitude of nurses who possess a variety of skill and experience levels. Her present role as a Nurse Manager for Credentialing and Education Development at CCI allows her to develop test preparation and study materials for the CNOR and CRNFA exams.
